What is different about looking for jobs today in the South compared to 10 years ago

This article deals with the ever changing job market and is designed to help people that are searching for jobs today and also for people who are looking to possibly make a career change in the near future.

As anyone who watched the job market will no doubt have noticed, jobs today are somewhat more likely to be on a contract or temporary basis. Understandibly this can be somewhat off-putting to anyone who has mostly been employed on a permanent basis up until now, however in the greater scheme of things this is nothing to be afraid of.

Jobs aren’t always for life anymore

Jobs today alas just aren’t usually ‘for life’ anymore and therefore even if you’re employed on a permanent basis there is no 100 percent guarantee that your job will be permanent.

The most pragmatic way to look at jobs today is that even if the contract type being offered by the company isn’t exactly what you would have wanted in an ideal world – is to consider a temporary or contract position to be a great opportunity to ‘get your foot in the door’ and also to ‘check out’ the employer to see how much you enjoy working there before you decide to stay with that company for a long time to them.
